Mentoring
JLSFRC’s Youth Mentoring Program pairs trained adults with youth who can benefit from weekly one-on-one time with a caring mentor and involvement in pro-social activities. Whether it’s bike riding, baking cookies, or just talking, mentoring is a way for adults and kids alike to experience quality time together and make a positive difference in each other’s lives. Please contact us if you are interested in being a mentor, or if you have a child who might enjoy being a part of this special program!
One-on-One Matches
The SJI Youth Mentoring program matches elementary and middle school aged youth with a caring adult that agrees to meet with them on a weekly basis for at least one year. Mentors undergo an application, background check, interview and training process, while mentees also complete an application.
This program is focused on promoting youth resilience through relationship building and exposure to new skills, activities, and ideas.
Group Mentoring
Our Dream Big afterschool and summer program is designed to give elementary school students a supportive environment at the Family Resource Center that builds positive peer relationships. Youth participate in weekly, small group meetings where they enjoy bilingual literacy activities, social-emotional check-ins, arts and crafts, and active time outdoors.
