Supports for New Parents

The first years of parenthood can feel exciting…and sometimes overwhelming.  JLSFRC has a broad range of programs and services to meet your new family’s needs and interests.  From drop-in playgroups for families with babies and toddlers to home visiting or individual parent supports, we are there for you.
Baby Toddler playgroup

Rain or Shine Playgroup

A welcoming outdoor morning playgroup for families with children ages 0-4. Meet other families, get outside in all types of weather and help your little one begin to develop their first friendships!

Toddler Teatime

A registration-only program for families with children 18 months – 3 years old. Participate in circle time, songs, outdoor play, healthy snacks and learning, facilitated by an early childhood development specialist.  Call us at (360) 378-5246 for more information.

Baby Toddler Time

Baby Toddler Time is a storytime and playgroup designed for caregivers with infants and toddlers. We will explore Playing, Reading, Rhyming, and Singing combined with plenty of social and play time to support your little one’s development. 
Free, no registration required. Older siblings and other family members are always welcome! Sponsored by the San Juan Island Library and the Joyce L. Sobel Family Resource Center.

Home Visiting

Do you want help baby-proofing your home? Would you like to learn how to support your baby’s healthy development?  Would some simple tips about what to do if your baby or toddler isn’t feeling good be helpful?  Our supportive Family Home Visiting specialist can work with you to schedule convenient home visit times to explore your new parenting needs and interests.  Visiting services are available in English and Spanish. One-on-One Support

Our 0-5 Family Support Specialist is always available to have confidential one-on-one conversations with you.  If you have a parenting question, concern or even want some information about self-care as a new parent, don’t hesitate to give us a call (360) 378-5246.

Development Cooperative

Our center’s cooperative, offered in partnership with the Skagit Valley College Cooperative Preschool Program, provides high quality care and learning for families with babies and toddlers ages 3 months – 3 ½ years.
