YEW Circle
Open to all adolescent and young women, Young Empowered Women’s Circle meets weekly under the leadership of Ashley Strutz from the Family Resource Center and Melanie Kaegi from Juvenile Court Administration. In this environment young women experience a positive, safe, prosocial gathering of their peers, developing friendships and a stronger integration with their community. Some benefits participants have experienced include:
- Developing enhanced self-esteem, self-confidence, self-actualization, and agency through the shared experiences with their peers;
- eliminating the feelings of isolation that often confront young people;
- exploring possible career paths;
- opportunities for mentorship with professional women in the community;
- discovering available community agencies and programs;
- connecting with caring adults to whom they can turn for help when experiencing a crisis, large or small;
- and most importantly – participants become active, empowered agents in their own lives.
YEW Circle currently meets on Wednesdays at the Family Resource Center. For more information, text 360-622-6522.
